A search for William Baffin roses provided the following information on care of climbing roses. "Climbing roses should get a major pruning right after the first flush of blooms withers. Remove dead, damaged and diseased branches as the first buds open in early spring. But wait until early summer, after the first flush, to work on thinning and training the rose's structure. "Generally, you should remove all but one of the new canes that have emerged from the plant's base, and also remove any weak or crossing upright canes. Preserve the new cane, and tie it to the trellis or the support as a replacement for the rose's oldest and woodiest cane, which you should also excise at this time. This treatment helps to reinvigorate the climber. "Finally, cut back all horizontal secondary branches by half, to stimulate new growth and another flush of flowers." click here for the entire articleWelcome to the pool Billie
