Check out the following link to keep your African Violet healthy,

African Violet Care

Insufficient light is the major reason that African violets don't bloom.

I have an African Violet that has bloomed continiously for over a year. It's in a south window, gets some sun and bright light all day. I've inserted 2 or 3 miracle grow plant spikes in the pot, and water from the bottom every three or four days. Feel the top of the soil, and if it feels dry, water it. My sister-in-law can't believe it's still blooming, and feels it to see if it's artificial every time she visits. It needs the light, but not direct sun.
