What exactly is crape myrtle? I've never heard of it and wonder if it has another name since I can't find it in my gardening book. I would appreciate a reply since it sounds quite interesting. Perhaps you could give a brief description, size etc. Many thanks.

I have about 12 crape myrtles growing in my yard. It is only my second year with the plants, and I am hoping for plenty of flowers this year. There are 19 variaties of this plant.
It is available in tree/shrub/hanging basket forms. I don't think it is hardy below zones 5/6. I am borderline, and keep my fingers crossed that I don't get frozen out in winter. Here is a link for all the information you are looking for.
