Is it possible to buy dwarf or shorter alstromerias? If so, where (in southern Hampshire, UK or by mail order). I have had great success with normal height alstromerias in my garden however I find that they get very leggy. I know that I can take cuttings very easily and do this, mostly giving them away once rooted.
I am loathe to lose my well-established plants and wonder when I should prune them back. I do dead-head the spent flowers, but when I cut the plants back in the spring they don't flower nearly as well that year. Any tips would be welcome.
I must just add that I am enjoying this new site tremendously and have already received masses of help. Thanks again to all concerned!

If anyone has been good enough to try to help me with this problem, I meant to say Penstemons. I do have alstroemerias but they die down in winter and are not a problem, although I don't know how to propagate them, or even if this is possible. I don't let them go to seed, I dead head. Would seed be usable if I allowed them to set seed? Sorry for the error, hope you'll be able to help me with the intended question!
