I started an avacado plant last summer. It is approx 2 feet tall. I would like to have a bushier tree. I hear if you prune or pinch it, it will be fuller. I have never had plants before so really have no clue about what I am doing. It has maybe 8-10 leaves on it. How or can I cut it back without killing it? Also for some reason my plant does not like the sun. It is sitting by the patio and it prefers the blinds closed. I thought they liked the sun seeing they are from sunny climates. Please help. I don't want to murder my plant.

Boy !, that article was a bunch of crap....Sure it correctely told you how to start a tree from seed, but what it didn't say was one started that way takes 8-10 years to grow fruit....

You need to get an Avcado plant from a nusery that has been grafted, and then you will have fruit in about 2 years...

Full sun is best, and seeing where you are from, a hot house is necessary..

I need to get a new one as my old one is about 25 years old and just stopped producing...

Good luck....

This is also a good site.
It also tells which way to place the seed in the water (or soil). Trust me - this is important!
(Once I put the seeds in right, I got them to sprout! Roll Eyes Wink)

OMG donrent!

Give people the benefit of the doubt! MOST people know the difference between a plant and a tree! Ummmm yes, trees do take a heck of a lot longer to grow! Roll Eyes
