You can't see the blooms clearly, but they are yellow. Please let me know what this plant is.

How tall is the plant ? Any better pictures ?
(It does look similar to golden rod)

like a yellow butterfly bush I have in my yard. It's a little tough to tell though....

Hard to tell, but it really does look like golden rod. Do you notice if you sneeze a lot when you are around the plant?

This pic isn't really clear, but you can see the flowers a little more.

there are so many different types of goldenrod that this is still a strong possibility. Where do you live? From what I read, Michigan has more varieties than most.

I once visited the Ford/Edison summer estate in Ft. Myers FL and they had a picture of a huge goldenrod that Edison was growing for rubber development. I tried to locate a picture of it online, but didn't have much luck.

Goldenrod (that I've seen) has more things coming off each "stem", than the one this picture shows.....
