It's located north of the house, and it's been there for about five years, growing slowly but thriving. Now it's getting leaf bleaching near the tips. Should I give it a good feed of fertilizer? All suggestions would be appreciated. It's one of my favorite trees.

WOW! I checked around the internet and found interesting pictures of black bamboo! It's so magical!... Also, rather mysterious.

I hope there's something here that can help you. I'm so jealous of your tree. I've never seen one - live. Wink

Thank you for the site, tree. I've been pouring the water and some nutrients including bone meal, and hoping for the best. Being on the north side, it has not grown very large. But for the life of me I can't 'catch' the lovely effect of the glossy black bark and the delicate leaves. This is the best I can get:

Those big trees in the background are alders.
