I bought a lucky Bamboo plant at the garden store, it is in a small ceramic pot that has a sponge in it, the plant is about 6 inches tall and looks very healthy....the only instructions on it are to bright indirect light....do I remove the sponge? How do I care for my new plant? Thanks!

I've always kept bamboo in water. Clean water -fresh every couple weeks. I think it was about 2 inches. Some rocks were in the jar to keep the bamboo in place.

The key is the indirect light. I put mine in direct light for a little while and it quickly turned pale on me.

My bamboo got root bound and I think if I'd been paying more attention I would have found a site that talked about how to prune the roots.

I had mine in a bit of water for quite some time... unfortunately it decided to go and live somewhere else.

These "fad" plants are inspiring, but sometimes, they're not too sensible.

Hi all. Our daughter bought us one of these about 6 yrs ago, my wife takes care of it and keeps it watered, we read somewhere recently that the sponge should be removed, however ours is still there, It has now grown to about 12 inches.

One of my stalks died, it turned yellow so I tossed it, but the other two seem to be doing well and have grown about an inch or so, They look really nice and hopefully they will continue their growth.

Some people see the glass as half-empty, others see it as half-full. I see the glass as holding red wine which will spill on my white shirt. Frown
