I don't think that you need to prune Pansies. They are known as "winter" flowers and do well in cooler temps. Where I work, the gardener - at this time of year - will give away his pansy hanging baskets - they are gorgeous but don't last too much into the summer months. I take one or two because I can replant things in the large baskets. Take a look at this site kitty.
