Would it be possible to cross-breed two herbs, such as thyme and sage? Could plants in the same family be crossbred...like catnip and oregano, which are both in the mint family?

Oregano is part of the mint family? I never knew that! I'm sure there is a way to cross breed - after all Gregor Mendel did it with peas. There are sites on the internet dedicated to plant cross-breeding. Here is a site for one of them - good luck!
