Be careful. If you were renting, anything planted probably belongs to the owner of the property, regardless of who planted it. If you have sold/are selling a house, you need to make sure that it is clear in any document with a real estate agent that plantings are not part of the sale. While this sounds silly, it may be the law, and you may have to replace whatever you uproot, or pay for someone else to do it. Generally speaking, anything planted becomes the property of the owner of the ground in which it was planted, and things that are attached (ceiling fans, bookcases, shrubbery, trees, etc.) are considered part of the sale in selling a house.
