i need some recomndations to listen too
i DONT like death metal (slayer napalm death ect.. they all sound the same)
i already listen to disturbed, rammstein, system ect. but i dont watch muchmusic (mtv for you americans) and dont have a heavy music radio station and the nearest heavy music bar is about a 3 hour drive so i dont get a lot of listening to new heavy music. mostly i like stuff with a good beat, no one screaming into the mike (i like to understand the lyrics) and music you can thrash too (but again no death metal)
any suggestions would be great \m/

A few suggestions, based pretty much solely on radio airplay on the only station that plays Disturbed and SoaD:
(bands you probably know:) Puddle of Mudd/koRn/P.O.D./Godsmack/RATM/A Perfect Circle/Tool
(others:) Chevelle
Coal Chamber
Cold
Course of Nature
Dope
Drowning Pool
Fear Factory
Injected
Primer 55
Sevendust
Taproot
Union Underground

I like Helloween and Gamma Ray. ALso good choices are Judas priest (with Halford) and Iron Maiden.

I don´t know if this is the type of music you are looking for. Heavy but very melodic and excellent voices!

OOo, I sure have come across a lot more good stuff to suggest since you posted this. Where to begin?

Well here's just a few that I'm thinking of:
Skindred, Dredg* (check out my thread in the music polls), Evergrey, Stone Sour, Symphony X (thanks Psycho!), Nonpoint*, Mushroomhead, Apartment 26, Spineshank, Anthrax (I can certain songs that you may like more than others), Deadsy, Systematic, Tub Ring*, Nothingface, Alien Ant Farm (yes, trust me), Stuck Mojo, and he/they aren't exactly metal, but I think you'll like VAST. And of course, if you don't like them yet, look into more A Perfect Circle or Tool*. I might second Curtis' Union Underground most out of his list. I recently rediscovered Revolution Man which I realy like. Oh and I suppose I might add the band I'm listening to now: No One, not that good, but you might still enjoy.

Let me know if you want me to find audio from these bands for you. Oh and you might also like to know if you don't already that Stabbing Westward released a greatest hits album about a year ago. That's a pretty good mix I think. All that should hold you for awhile, but when you need more, I'll continue digging my head for some more (I probably forget a good amount.) Wink

* = highly recommend you listen right away!
