My 17 year old brother is taking m 2nd grade sister and 4rth grade brother to the US in about two weeks. He wants to put all different songs on an MP3 player for them, songs that they will enjoy listening to, so that they won't bother him on the flight. I was hoping you would give me suggestions for songs that I can put on the MP3 for them. So far I have, yellow submarine, sound of music soundtrack, mary poppins soundtrack, mulan, aladdin, little mermaid, and pocahantes. Any other suggestions would be appreciated.

Do they like Disney music and other similar music, or is that just what you suggested?

As usual, I'll collect everything I can manage to come to mind at the moment:
The song I'm listening to now: Baker Street by Gerry Rafferty
My song of the moment: Lazy Eye by Silversun Pickups
The first applicable thing I saw when I looked around: Message in a Bottle by Police
My favorite song: Driver 8 by R.E.M.
And other possibilities that I bet they'd like:
Who Needs Sleep? by Barenaked Ladies
People are People by Depeche Mode
Take Me Out by Franz Ferdinand
Sweetness by Jimmy Eat World
Just a Friend by Biz Markie
Everyday is a Winding Road by Sheryl Crow
Breakfast At Tiffanys by Deep Blue Something
The Saftey Dance by Men Without Hats
Let Me Go by Cake

I'm sure you could find these on any legal downloading place.

Or should I recommend more children's songs? If so, The Lion King soundtrack is awesome.

I think it needs to be more kids stuff, it needs to be songs that will interest them that they won't wreak havoc on the plane.... I downloaded a lot of Disney songs, sound of music, king and I, marry Poppins, and bed knobs and broomsticks.

Hi Leppi,
I think you have the right idea already with the Disney sountracks.

I asked my Grade 3 daughter for some suggestions, and here is what she came up with:

*Chitty Chitty Bang Bang soundtrack
*Little Bear
*Spirit
*Charlie and the Chocolate Factory( newer version soundtrack)
*Matilda soundtrack
*Happy Feet
*Crazy Frog (I should warn you that if there is any chance these kids will play this other than through headphones, then don't buy it! I'm thinking of your sanity here!)

*Tom Chapin this guy is wonderful, and if you can get a copy of the CD "Zag Zig" it is well worth listening to.

Another thing I thought of is putting some books on CD on their MP3 players. Just about all the best selling childrens' books are available. My children loved the "Narnia Chronicles" and "A Series of Unfortunate Events".

Here is a great site for books on CD:
Audible

Hope these suggestions are useful Smiledg
