In case you're a Joni Mitchell fan... Thought you might be excited to hear that she's coming out with a new album! I'm excited simply because I've been a fan for a long time... I find her music extremely relaxing. Anyway if you're interested here is a stream to info on her new album! check it out and let me know what you guys think!
I was a big, big Joni Mitchell fan from about 1970, seeing her at Wembley Stadium in 1973 at an all-day concert with the Band, Tom Scott and the L.A. Express, and Crosby, Stills , Nash and Young, and I saw her again in Paris about fifteen years ago at a smaller venue. Back then her voice soared. She started that day with "Free Man in Paris" I rememebr - rather obviously, perhaps - and ended with a beautiful rendition of "Both Sides Now". So when I heard her sing that full-blown orchestral version after the tribute concert to her in - was it 2000? - I was disappointed that her fine, fine voice had inevitably faded, admitting at the same time that it was a poignant farewell as she embarked on her "retirement" from the recording industry. All in all though I hadn't liked "Travelogue" (her "final" album). Too much orchestra, not enough guitarwork for me, so unsurprisingly, I find it hard to like "Shine" for the same reasons. Still, that guy up at the top of this post liked it and we're all "captive on the carrousel of time".

This video from Canada will thrill Joni's fans. I've just discovered it myself, but don't be fooled by the fact that she's using her real name of "Anderson". Other music maniacs will note that Harry, Tom and Steve Chapin were there as well, though their contribution has been edited out of this rarity. Joni was born in 1943 so you can work out how young she was...
