allright. there really isnt a place to put this, but alternative seems to be ok so here goes.
i want to make a cd with powerful, modern instrumental songs on it.
so far i have tubular bells, and sadness by enigma.
i dont really want to go through my entire cd collection and listen to everything (that could take years) so suggestions please!!

MattLynda - I don't know how "modern" you want to get, so I'll just suggest a few, though some may not be "recent."
But I like these:

Overture from "Tommy" - Assembled Multitude; The Who
Telstar - The Tornadoes
The Promise - Michael Nyman (Actually I love almost everything from the "Pure Moods" album!) Smile

those are great suggestions. thanks.
ill have to get the tommy song from my mom, shes got it kicking around somewhere.
as for 'modern' i mean stuff with electronic sounds, and not bethoeven or mozart (although they hve some amazing songs too).
i already have a classical cd made, so this one is gonna be different.

Lynda, I've recently made a CD with an instrumental theme. Being a musician, I love instrumental music and some of my favorite instrumental CD's are soundtracks. Some of my favorite soundtracks are:

The Last of the Mohicans
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
Clair de Lune remix from Ocean's Eleven

As for instrumental with a modern sound, how about Moby? I love his Play album. Listen to it all the time. Hope those help! Have fun mixing CD's!

Am I too late to pipe in on this one with suggestions? Try some of these personal fave alternative instrumentals-

"Flipside" - the Breeders
"Modular Mix" - Air
"King Murdock" - King Missile

What about Carlos Santana's 'Flor D'luna' (Moonflower) A truely remarkable, powerful instrumental piece.
