A friend says the dvd's are hilarious and recommends them. But I'm having a hard time getting an idea of what sort of humor it is. "British" is too broad a term.

Can anyone help me out? Who are they like?

They are brilliant babs..my whole family just loves them. Here's a link to Wikipedia

They are claymation, very clever and very British.
I love all of Nick Park's stuff.

Have a look at his Creature Comforts stuff too..I think its even funnier than W and G..lots of interviews with claymation animals Big Grin

I love the Creature Comforts clips, DanceG! Thank you so much! I love how earnest they are when they're interviewed, and the expressions and body language! I'll order Wallace & Gromit right away, along with that Live at Massey Hall cd that Colin recommended. Thanks again. Smile Just now I'm looking for upbeat stuff so my husband has positive things to look at, he's quite exhausted from the chemo.

I never even thought of Wallace and Gromit when I recommended movies to you babs..these are perfect for your husband right now.

I know there is lots more Creature Comforts stuff on the net too, and if I find it I'll pass it on to you. Smile

Creature Comforts is brilliant. What an inspired idea to take ordinary interviews with the general public and use the innocent public as voice artists and script ! Everything you hear is real people talking, sometimes quite earnestly, and making unwittingly revealing comments. It's a wonder that the subjects don't sue Big Grin. There they were talking to some regional radio station or chatting to some friendly researcher and the next thing is that they are plasticine animals commenting on their lives and foibles !

The films are worth repeating because Nick Park puts lots of amusing action in the background, which it's easy to miss first time.Hope that everyone in N America gets every word: one or two of the people have marked regional accents (another reason to replay the films ? Big Grin )

My wife and I first saw "Creature Comforts" at a San Diego animation festival about 25 years ago, and we've been fans of Nick Park films ever since.

I understand that future (and recent?) productions of Wallace & Grommet -- as opposed to the classic stuff -- are actually cg (computer graphic) simulations of clay animation! Frown

OK Fred, I have to ask, (and I just know DG is gonna delete this as "senseless chat"), but I was hoping you would see this thread.
The reason being that I was wondering if you might have been one of the interviewees for "Creature Comforts"?
There was one particular character in the clips that I thought might have been you.
He was just how I imagine you. Just how I imagine you talking you understand, and nothing to do with how you look. Intrigued aren't you? Big Grin

OK, I'll buy it! Give us a clue (I have all of them here but have no idea what wonderful, benign, charming, character I'd be looking for).

This isn't 'senseless chat': it is a deep philosophical analysis of anthropomorphism and the human condition.

Knew ya couldn't resist!

Creature Comforts interview with FredPuli (first season trailer)

It's the horse talking about eating wild strawberries. I'm sure he is charming, but I think only advanced age makes him appear benign Wink

Forget the regional accent Roll Eyes What worries me is that the horse may be a gelding Big Grin
