I don't think I've seen any new movies this year, but I am interested in the awards. What movies are likely to be nominated? Does anyone care to make a prediction on which one will win? What about Best Actor and Actress?

Here is the entire list.

I've seen "Cars". LOL

Ken saw "Letters form Iwo Jima" and was absolutely thrilled with it. He felt it was a very important piece of work. He also saw "Flags of our Father" and felt that they should be seen together for the best impact.

The family saw "Dead Man's Chest".

Sagus wants "Letters form Iwo Jima" (This is in subtitles) and "Flags of our Father" to win.

Well, out of that list, I have to pick The Departed as the Best Movie. Martin Scorsese did a magnificent job, with an excellent turn out by the cast. Both the directing and the editing of this film keep it tight and suspenseful. It can't miss.

I'm going out on a limb here..but I like Helen Mirren for Best Actress in 'The Queen'.
Helen seems pretty confident in rehearsal.

Hmmm..let me think..yes, I think Forest Whitaker is going to take Best Actor this year for 'The Last King of Scotland'.

Any predictions on other awards? Wink

This list is old. Notice that the winners have already been chosen. Unfortunetly, Letters from Iwo Jima didn't win. I don't know why they're still advertising for last year on there.

No Country for Old Men, American Gangster, Eastern Promises, Ratatouille are all supposed to be really good so I'm sure they'll be nominated. Of what I've seen, my favorite pick is Hot Fuzz. 1408, 28 Weeks Later, Zodiac, Breach, Grindhouse, and Bug come in close second. A Mighty Heart wasn't bad. It could win something. And The Last Mimzy, actually. The kids could easily win for best young performance. And I'm already rooting for Waitress and I haven't even seen it. I'm expecting Knocked up to be good as well, and I'm sure it'll be interesting to see it go up against Hot Fuzz. And I really, really hope Ratatouille wins over Bee Movie.

There was immediate buzz for Jodie Foster in The Brave One and Denzel Washington in American Gangster.

Roll Eyes Jusork, you were supposed to "predict" a winner!

Actually, it's a bit premature to be picking contenders for 2008, based on our own opinions of movies we have seen. Several of the films that have a buzz about them, and are likely to be nominated, haven't been released yet.
