Was there a movie called Mooncussers? I remember seeing a movie about pirates who would wait for a dark night and build a fire to lure ships to a rocky shore. I tried IMDb, but didn't find anything. It would have been from the 60's and for some reason I think it was a Disney film.

The 60's movie from Disney that you might be thinking of is "The Moon-Spinners" 1964 that starred Hayley Mills and Eli Wallach. It was Disney's attempt at a Hitchcock type story - taking place on the island of Crete and involving jewel smugglers.
BUT..I don't think it's the movie you are relating to MoonCussers. That movie might be based on the book "They Mystery of MoonCusser" by Eleanore M. Jewett

Thank you. It wasn't Moon-Spinners. I can't remember anything about it other than the word mooncussers and a scene of men shaking their fists at the full moon. It was probably taken from the book though.

Ok, got it for you... It was on the tv series"Disneyland" and the episode was called The Mooncussers: Graveyard of Ships (1962 season 9 episode 10)
A young boy discovers the existence of a group called the Mooncussers - a gang of pirates that work at night and sends out false homing signals to ships at sea; the ships then crash on the shore, where they are looted by the gang.
I'd post a direct link to it on IMDB but I'm having site problems on AP tonight and seems I can only post a "quick reply"
