I went to see this film about the life of Johnny Cash on Sunday night. It was absolutely brilliant! Joaquin Phoenix was excellent as Cash and I was so glad that Reese Witherspoon won an oscar for her role as June Carter. Has anyone else seen it?

Hi Jenny
I went to see it a couple of weeks ago and agree with you totally.Reese Witherspoon was a revelation,up until now I haven't been a fan of hers, only having seen her (thanks to my daughter )in Legally Blonde and Sweet Home Alabama, which I thought were both fairly awful.
Joaquin Phoenix was uncannily like JC but somehow managed to bring to it something of himself.
Took all my teenage kids and they enjoyed it too, even though they thought they wouldn't. They even sing-a-long to Johhny Cash in the car now.
Thought it was a strong contender for Best Film at the Oscars, until I saw Brokeback Mountain last week, which totally blew me away, one of those films that you just can't get out of your head, but looks like neither of them made it.

Thanks Viv!
Brokeback mountain is another on my list of 'to see' films. I really must get out more. Big Grin

Jen, I've seen both of these movies and
really liked them but I enjoyed the movie
that won the best picture of the year even more -- "Crash".
I often still think about it and it's important message.

I still need to see this. Joaquin Phenix is a highly talented actor so I am sure this movie is amazing

Ok, I finally saw it a few days ago. It was good, but I would've liked to see more about the man and his work. The music felt more like a background story for the somewhat-simplistic romance and drug-addiction story. But I guess that would've been a lot and might made it too complicated or unfocused. It's nice how it worked with the responsibility theme so well though.
