I have just got a 30 GB Video Ipod. How do I, copy DVDs in it? Do I need a special software?

The easiest way to get videos is through the iTunes store. Many free videos on Google video have a downloadable version for iPods and PSPs. Just download the video and import into iTunes.

But in the case of ripping a DVD... It gets complicated. (I assume you have permission to transcode, through fair use or otherwise)

You will need a DVD ripping program that can transcode to MPEG-4 or H.264/AAC, which are the only formats that video iPods play. You open the ripping program, select what you wish to copy to your hard drive, set a few preferences, and wait while the program processes the DVD. (May take a while!!!) Once the video is in the proper format on your hard drive, you can open iTunes, import the video, then sync your iPod.

I haven't used any software such as this, so I can't make any reccommendations from experiance. If noone else on AP has a suggestion, you can try searching Google.
