A friend of mine had windows XP and just installed MS Life Cam VX 3000. Now for some reason or other which we cannot understand whenever he uses his camera on SKYPE that is the only time he uses it he gets a picture of the person he is calling all nice and clear ecept for one large bright yellow vertical bar across his screen. When he had his old camera DINEX it never did this. His friends bought the same camera andnone of the have that problem. Is there someone in answerpool that can help me out with this problem?

I have never used Skype, and know nothing about the program, but it could be that the video card in his computer needs an updated driver. Might be a good idea to go to Windows update to see there's one there, or to the manufacturer's website of the graphics card to find one there. You can find a program here: http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php that will help to identify the graphics card in question, just click on the PCWizard 2010.1.92 link on the top left of the page to download it. It will tell your friend the exact hardware parts they have on their computer, such as graphics card and model. Please post back if this doesnt help so we can try something else.

Good answer from vansrme (as always). I thought that I would add, you could contact Skype Technical Support and ask them. Since Skype is their software, they might have a suggestion.

Well come to find out there was something wrong with the camera or a glitch in the installation. He uninstalled everything. returned it to the store and they exchanged the whole thing and now all works perfectly.
