I run RH9 on my computer. Im still a little attached to windows so i also have that installed. (mostly for msn messenger)

Now the prob:

I download the latest version of GAIM from the sourceforge website and try to "install" it under RH9 and it never installs. Im wondering if anyone else runs RH9 and if they have the same prob or know how to get it to work.

What kind of error do you get from RPM?

i dont get an error message. it just looks like its completed, but doesn't update the gaim already installed. it says checking rpm headers and the status bar goes to 100% and the window disappears.

if i try to install from terminal, it says gtkspell and another (something like) libgtk(something) dependencies aren't installed

Try installing the gtkspell package( http://shrike.freshrpms.net/rpm.html?id=1327 ) then, attempt to install GAIM again.
