I would like to get two windows on the desktop when working with Word.

Under 'windows' tab I can split the page - then put them side-by-side . . . but the windows scroll together and what you design on one page is designed on the other.

I would like to be able to work (say) with pictures on one side and write the tutorial on the second screen.

I have read into the windows MicroSoft helps, but didn't find what I was after.

Can someone point me toward a tutorial that tells what I want?

Or just tell me how to do it!?

Thanx ahead of time!

The answer was just to simple ( I guess that’s why no one told me)

I’m taking the beginners class all over again. The instructor was telling us about the three square boxes – top right – ‘the minus tab’ – ‘the re-size tab’ – and ‘the red X’ tab.

When she did the ‘re-size’ tab – then showed how to grab the ‘dotted triangle’ (bottom right) and re-size the window to your desired size.

That’s when it hit me!

So back to Word – bring up another ‘document (#2)’ – hit the ‘restore down’ tab and Wa-la – two window on the desktop – that can be worked in separately.

I, too, have found MS Help quite unhelpful.

Sorry kleo2x, but I don't understand "When she did the ‘re-size’ tab – then showed how to grab the ‘dotted triangle’ (bottom right) and re-size the window to your desired size."

I am guessing that by "re-size tab" you mean the "maximize tab" in the middle of the three. But I am confused about the "dotted triangle." What does a "dotted triangle" look like? I can't find it in my version.

I would also like to know how you get the windows to display side by side. My only option is "Arrange All," which displays them vertically.

Kattywampus0: Down in/on the bottom right of Word’s desktop work page – when you move your cursor down there (and ‘fish’ for the corner) the cursor becomes a double ended arrow. Holding down on the left ‘clicker’ and dragging the mouse arrow toward the top left – the page gets smaller. In that bottom right corner is where you’ll find that ‘dotted triangle’ I was talking about.
As the page gets smaller you will see the desktop with all the icons. Click again on ‘Word’ and a second Word work page appears – grab the top title bar and drag it to one side – resizing both windows to the same size with the ‘dotted triangle at the bottom right of each window.
Sorry I can’t explain this any better – although living in California – my Arkansas DNA sometimes rises to the surface.

p.s. I had a small screen shot of this but I see it didn't 'paste' it in.

Thank you, kleo. You explained it very well. I had forgotten that. Often, I can't get my cursor far enough even to the side to shrink the page to the left or the right. It doesn't change to an "I" but stays a cursor. I will try it again.
