Hi, I needed the latest version of Acrobat and did not get a choice to decline the Google toolbar.
I uninstalled it from the add/remove panel. Did it go completely away? Do I need to do anything else? - like go into the registry or something? Scary!!
Thanks for any help you can give.

Emkayess:

If you removed the Google Tool Bar with the Add/Remove program, then you deleted all aspects of the Google Tool bar. You are OK.

Hi, thanks, that makes me feel better. I don't like it when they pack this stuff on and don't let you opt out.
Thanks again.

If you want to download programs please Download 'File Hippo' to you desktop. It has most of the programs that you will ever need. It has Adobe 8.0 . You won't get any extras along with it.

Following up Dons reply. Here is the address www.filehippo.com
and If you want to update you current installed Programs (saves you searching) In the top right corner there is a small updater Program to Load which when run shows both your current version of the Program and the Latst version of the same (at Filehippo) But If Is a BETA Click on the Link and Find the Nearest NON Beta Version Beta are Test versions. If you are usnsure Post In this section, and we'll say if Its safe to use a Beta
As a rough guide If, its a FULL version Number Jump say from Version 1.0 to Version 2.0 Then Pass on It.Until youGet the Nod Minor Version Changes are depicted as V1.1 to v1.2 or 1.12 or something. You are safe with anything like this

To repeat myself ASK (on the Forum)If you aren't sure

Thanks DEK and bedstor, I looked at the FileHippo.
Looks like a great site. Thanks for telling me about it.
I was really upset because the reason I needed the Reader was for a graphics class I'm taking. A place I trusted. Bummer!

You need to download/install another Microsoft program fot the update program to work
quote:
The Update Checker works on any Windows PC running Vista, XP, 2003, 2000, ME or 98.
It requires that the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 is installed,

Download link is on this Page will take a few minutes
Install this then try the Updater program ...Success? Smile

The purpose of the ".NET Framework" Program is to help sort high speed downloads and uploads on your computer

Dek
Most odd that Confused
Try deleting the updater and getting a new download .
try that again then if no change do a reinstall of the .NET program on top of the installed version will overwrite rhe existing files And if there is an error here it will be corrected Ok? Nexr retry the Updater again
If no go then tell us exactly what message is shown? is it "Hanging on the "Ldading" Bar Does take about a minute to compile on the 1st scan so be patient OK?

OH and if you are on Vista you'll need the Version 3.5 .NET to Run But the Updater program may not work with it Frown

Bedstore:

I put the 'udc.exe' into my address line in the Internet Program & the Update Program finally came up on my CPU. It appears to be working now.

Thanks for the suggestions.
