I've been having connection problems for some time. Just now, checking my connection, I got this message:

"Corrupted IP routing table

info The default route is valid
info The loopback route is valid
info The local host route is valid
info The local subnet route is valid
Invalid ARP cache entries

action The ARP cache has been flushed"

Anyone know what this means?

Way out of my depth here catty
found this

Address Resolution Protocol (ARP)
Submitted by webmaster on 2 December, 2007 - 03:40. Network Protocols
by Michael Barr

The address resolution protocol provides a necessary bridge between physical and logical addresses on a TCP/IP network.

Every system on a TCP/IP network has two addresses, one physical and one logical. The address resolution protocol (ARP) provides a necessary bridge between these two addresses.

as there are other messages there I can't make head or tail of either Frown

Try repairing the connection ?

Suggest you go offline click on the 2 Monitor icon If connected all to icons on the Next wind will be padlocked (Guessing) that to prevent tampering...

The Middle section titled LAN or Highspeed Internet is my best bet of a result
there may be 2 or 3 identical sounding icons Here Local Area Connection with a Number
se them (or it) One of then may point to a Modem the other to a router OK?
Click on the router One and then on the Support Tab Ok?
Next page if you look down there will be a message sisplay if there is an error ib the Network settings and besides this a "Repair" button Smile

If, this is the Only Network link Click the "Repair" button and Windows Hopefully will put things back in order Smile

If there are 2 icons then Click the repair button on the Router Link

Now connect up again and has that improved matters?

As I say I'm saying what I'd do instinctively
job should take you a Minute at most

The other thing is, has the router driver Glitched? Roll Eyes If so you'll have to reinstall the router. Frown

I had 2 BB modem reinstalls last year Due to Glitches in the Nework. And my Router is running fine(On the original installation last October)

I suggest that you try contacting your ISP and let them talk you through this over the telephone.

Without knowing all the details of your connection and your ISP's (Internet Service Provider) connection type and if appropriate their installation disk information, I cannot help you with this.

If this is a wireless connection, ask them specifically about methods to improve your connection reliability and about signal enhancement hardware if appropriate in your home.

Thank you, Dwight. Unfortunately, every time I call my ISP I get some foreign script-reader. I did get an answer from techguy, and he is checking my Hijak log. I have not asked Hijak to fix anything yet, on his instructions. So we'll see what he says.

Your check will be on its way tomorrow.

OK, good. I hope this connection problem can be resolved as I know it has been a very annoying situation.

One thing that I have found...when dealing with "English as a second language" technical support person; if there is an online chat available I find that process much easier to deal with them. You don't have to deal with accents or punctuation variances, but rather you can just read what they have written.

This option is not always available, but when it is, that is usually my first choice.

Sorry to say, all the problems I've been having were apparently caused by my hard disk going out. I also have a new ISP, AT&T, which is not only incredibly fast but reliable, as well. Don't know yet if the shop tech will be able to retrieve my data. WARNING! If you start having all kinds of problems, back up your disk immediately! Red Face
