Hi, Microsoft offered to install SP3. I declined. I have been reading that it causes all sorts of problems. I go to a Photoshop Elements forum. The program seems to interfere with this graphics program. Can anyone enlighten me why I would need to have it?
It seems to be optional. Or not? It didn't come with the regular updates - only when I visited the MS update site.
Thanks for helping.

The SP3 "update' is a Big security Patch bundle which has been issued before and a few odds and ends and Is OK to Upgrade to If, you have an Intel Processor ,But if like Me you have an AMD processor. Do keep fending it off as there have been reports of computers going crazy with this Patch (reseting again and again)

I have no News if there has been an Optimised AMD Fix posted and these Issues continue Roll Eyes
Some AMD computers are fine...Don't ask! Confused
But the concensus is that Giving this a swerve for the time being is the prudent thing to do Smile

Thank you bedstor for your reply.
Sorry I have not visited sooner.
I had not heard that this patch is brand specific. I do have an Intel pentium 4 chip(?, machine, processor).
Right now the patch pops up everytime I turn my machine on. I don't know how to get rid of it.
Arrrrrgh! Why can't life be simpler?
I may have changed my settings. Maybe I am not getting the regular monthly updates?
Maybe I'll just accept it.
Thanks for the information.
Wish me luck.

In fact they are coming up tomorrow (11 in total)
But you only get 2 or 3 depending on what is installed on the Computer.
and Use the custom Download option otherwise the SP3 Patch is Downloaded too Frown

You and I are like King Canute trying to Hold back the Tide on this Up date That Update Shield has been showing for over 2 months on my computer.
Its me who is more at risk of a Locked or something Computer as I have the Processor which this Patch has issues with! Mad

Hi bedstor,
got the regular updates today.
They started to download while I was distracted by the phone. I thought I was toast for sure.
SP3 did not install. It is still sitting somewhere on my machine waiting for my OK. NOT!

Thanks for the info.

I had 7 updates this week, and that SP3 update is still in its trap Smile
And I had a Virus attack that disabled my connection on the Update day too via the Firewall (1st in 10 years!)
The Updates were installed as I was Logging off and it wasn't till the Next time I started up I saw that they were the scheduled Patches Smile

The People that will get this "update" and Possible trouble will be those who have the scheduling service turned off They'll get both the updates for their computer and SP3 together
When they go for the Manual update with this option turned off. Frown

Hey bedstore,
I like that.
The King(s) Canute holding back the Tide.
Gotta read up on exactly what he did.
$64Thousand Question:
Can this thing be exterminated?
Probably not!
Glad to know that my automatic downloads are still functioning. But one of these days....

Good Luck to both of us!
