I've been (trying to) help a couple of elderly people in setting up their Email system. They are running a 98.

The blinking cursor that appears in the window-bars showing that the window is actuated and is ready to be typed in - is so small that they cannot spot it easily.

This is the blinking cursor that appears in (any)'subject' or user name or Yahoo I.D. or password' window - [when the page opens.]

Is there any settings anywhere that I can make this blinking cursor larger and/or even bolder?

thanks

The cursor is standard and can't be changed easily.

You could find a novelty cursor which would change the arrow/cursor to a special figure, cartoon character or a variety of shapes and sizes. Do NOT go to comet cursor or any cursor download site!! Most are spyware and track everything you do. There are many warnings about animated cursors so be sure to research before you install. I suggest that you go to the store and buy a cursor editor CD. Upload it from the purchased CD and you should be safe from malicious software.

I jus checked and if Leos customers are using XP there are a wide range of schemes other than the standard Windows default including some large font types Smile(still a fixed size Roll Eyes)

So if you have an XP machine simply Open the Control panel click on Mouse> then on the Pointers tab then select the scheme in the Top box ...Default is None .
When you have found something to suit, press the "Save As" Button and give it a title.
There are 19 sets to choose from. The "Large Font" types are towards the foot of the List Smile

You may find something in the same way on Win98? But I have no Win 98 computer to test this out on?

And I agree 110% with the other answer. Some 3rd party sites are riddled with all sorts of Nasties!! Mad

Have you already tried using your installed mouse driver? Open Control Panel, select Mouse, and look for a Pointers tab (another name for cursors). There might be a browse button to find other cursors. And there might be an option for "pointer trails," if you think that would help your users find the cursor more easily.

Sorry, I just realized that Bedstor already offered the advice I gave. Red Face I don't remember Win98 very well, but it surely had an accessible mouse driver, didn't it?

Kleo, there's and Accessibility Options icon in Control Panel. Open that then click the 'Display' tab. Under 'Cursor Options' you can change the blink rate and width of the blinking cursor, exactly what you're looking for.

The magnifier in the accessibility should help you see the screen better.
