Challie you may think you are unprotected but you are protected "Temporarily" By the Windows Firewall and your routers "Firewall"
You are safe so long as you Don't Hit a Suspect site (Highly possible)

Firewalls for Free and Good ones ...A Tall order?

Would you like a well Known reliable Make?
Which Takes up a Lot of space and is a bit fiddly to Get Used to (Comodo) ....I Have Made a Topic on the Install and Setup/ running instructions

Long winded I grant you, but it covers all the bases.
http://filehippo.com/download_comodo/

They say It has an Antivirus too but I'd still install Avast! regardless which is Free and Does not Clash with Programs Smile

(This Updates daily)
NOTE: Needs Registering to get a "Key"(To insert into the settings) and you Get 1 years continous updates

Now if you have Not much drive space For a Firewall Like Comodo There is a Very good one which weighs In at 4 Mbs called Filseclab
Its From China...Don't worry the English is Good
I Only found out about it when SomeBody posted about a dealer Removing Commodo on a Low Powered computer(Had been struggling) and
They had full protection again (Minimal controls)
www.filseclab.com/eng/products/firewall.htm

also I did Note that:
quote:
It Has a Lot of Good reports on Cnet which is a popular forum/Download site Rates a 4/5 stars

Here are the feedback reports
PS 1 person on the feedback link said it was the ONLY Firewall that is good for Windows 98SE. Worth a think about Roll Eyes

I agree with Avast as the best available free anti-virus program, and quite possibly the best overall. It has found viruses on machines with Norton installed that Norton had no idea was there.
