Hi, the display on my windows media player quit working. The sound works. How do I fix this?
Can I just remove it through uninstall, and then redownload from Microsoft.

I was watching something on the media player when it quit. It said the display adapter(?) quit. The computer went into safe mode and said to restart. Everything else seems to work fine.

Thank you for any advice you can offer.

"Display adapter" refers to Graphics Card and

is also related indirectly to Direct X
so you are looking at 1 or 2 driver downloads? but which ones?
Rather than me and Dwight et Al reel off the List
Go to www.filehippo.com/updatechecker and see what is found by this little Program and Copy the numbers and report back here and we can see what's,what Smile
Versions that are several numbers out are worth upgrading
example: Windows Media Player is Now version 11 Version 10 users are OK for now. Version 9 or earlier Must update

You can both uninstall and reinstall the Windows Media Player in the Control Panel - Add - Remove Programs applet.

The Add-Remove Programs Applet "Add/Remove Windows Compnents" opens the Window where you can scroll to the Windows Media Player and uncheck it. Then click the "next" button and allow the uninstall. I would suggest restarting your comsputer, then coming back here an reversing your actions to reinstall the Windows Media Player.

I hope this helps!

Hi Dwight and bedstor,
sorry for the delay. These things scare me and I needed a day with lots of space.
Thanks so much Dwight. Your advice worked like a charm. Media Player works again. I would never have figured that out myself. I have never messed with add remove from windows. Didn't even know it was there, could'nt find Media player in the regular add/remove.
Thanks a bunch.

bedstore, that filehippo site needs some serious investigation. After the visitors leave.
BTW, I knew my graphics card was ok. I use
Photoshop Elements a lot and it was working fine. Thanks for your advice.
You guys are the best!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
