I keep getting Error Messages from Outlook Express. They are:
OX8007274d Ox800CCCOD OX80072af9
The Ox800CCCOD error messages reads as follows:
The host STMP email.msn.com could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account 'POP3.email.msn.com', server STMP.email.com'. Protocol:SMTP, Port 25. Secure[SSL.];No Socket Error 11004. Error Code Ox800CCCOD
How do I rectify this Error Message to get the E-mail to work?
What does the other two Error Messages mean?

Is there anything in the Outbox? If so, try removing all item in the outbox (drag them to the Drafts folder, for instance) then open the Drafts folder and open each message and try sending the message again.
If that doesn't work, give take a look at this Microsoft Knowledge Base article: kb274456 Dwight

Dwight: I did this. Still nione of the E-Mails could be sent.

I also did this. All it did was change the Error Message to:
Ox800CCCOF

This problem usually happens if you are running either NORTON ANTIVIRUS or NORTON INTERNET SECURITY
Bedstor:
I have NO Norton Programs of any kind.
MY copy of OLEXP: Outlook Express Error Codes says that Ox800CCCOF is an Error type that says the Connection has been Dropped with a Description that says that the Connection is Closed. It does not say anything about Norton Programs being involved.
NOTE The same code also comes up on Yahoomail (for the same reason)

Are you able to receive mail? Is the problem confined to sending mail?
If that is the case, what are the send properties (SMTP) in the account properties?
Has MSN changed it's SMTP requirements? I know that many of the ISP's have required the use of a SMTP (or send) login. Usually that login is the same as the receive username/password combination.
Has MSN changed it's POP3 setup? I know for instance that Yahoo mail now charges a fee for POP3 mail but still provides HTTP mail for free.
I suggest you try the MSN mail account via the Webmail and verify the account.
If you're able to receive mail, we can narrow the diagnosis to the SMTP setup and the username/password for the send properties. Dwight

3.) I do not know if MSN has changed it's SMTP requirements.
4.) I do the POP3 & SMTP setup as the Wizard tells me. It tells me when I have finished that everything is OK. However, when I go to use E-Mail, it fails to Send or Receive.

Look at the lower right corner of the screen near the time display. Right click on the AVG icon and choose "Quit AVG Control Center". Then with both the firewall and the AVG disabled, try your email. If it works, then we'll know that one of these two items is the cause of the problem. Restore them one at a time to figure out which one is the reason the mail server cannot be accessed. Dwight

And I have an Idea this is the root of the Issue It has an Email checker which is "ON" BY default and do you see what I think is happening?...a conflict
To disable this (and another program can take care of the scans) DO this Right click on the square AVG icon and select Launch AVG Control Center(Its the item in Bold lettering, top of the list)
Got that now you Land on the Security status Page And in the window every item will Have a Green/white Tick against it to denote its working properly Yes? Very bottom of the List is the Email scanner And if you click on that line, the same Item appears below the window...Still with us? There is a Button marked Properties in that window Press it New window opens and all I want you to do here is click the "Disable Plug in" button then OK
when you return to the othe page ther is a red white Exclamation mark showing and a Nag message To reactivate there is a new activate button on the Landing page
Now is the error message gone? PS Have you updated AVG or not lately? The latest free version is Version 7.5 Can force the Update by clicking on the Updates button on the Landing page (left side)
Do this before attempting to disable the Email scanner ...The message could be also due to a glitch in an Update?

I think they may have a Block on your address Don And you are not at fault
To Confirm My suspicions Send a "Test" Email to yourself If it arrives then its the recipients computer that Needs a tweak Not Yours
If Images or attachments are always included, they can be rejected by the recievers by their settings (and you may see a "Bounce"?) So Be aware of this too My AOL Account is set up in this manner But I do see the Post with the option of activating the Links..Only Gets Bounced and/or Autodeleted if it matches the Blocked list or the Filter list

And you? Cannot send to yourself Thats Bad news MUST be a firewall block ? I have No info on how your Zone Alarm firewall security can be relaxed or B) How the email is allowed through the barrier

Does anyone else have any idea why I can not get E-Mail to work.
The last Error report I received indicates the following:
The message could not be sent because the server rejested the member's e-mail address. The sender's address was 'donaldekliros@msn.com'. Subject Transmission' Account "Microsoft Mail Server'. Server 'SMTP.email.msn.com' Ptrotocol:SMTP. Server Response "550.5.7.3 Requested action aborted: User not authenticated". Port 25. Secure(SSL): No server Error: 550. Error Number 0x800CCC78.
Why would the server reject my e-mail address?
This problem has been with me OFF and ON since 2004 when I purchased my computer.

Don't know if you're using Outlook 2000, but read under that topic on the page I linked. Especially the Note:
Incoming mail (Pop3) Outgoing mail (SMTP) pop3.email.msn.com smtp.email.msn.com
Note If you gain access to MSN through a third-party Internet service provider (ISP) or local area network (LAN), and MSN is not working, type secure.smtp.email.msn.com in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) box.
Hope that helps in your settings

"The message could not be sent because one of the recipients was rejected by the server. The rejected e-mail address was ''. Subject '', Account: '', Server: '', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1)', Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 553, Error Number: 0x800CCC79. The exact error message might vary, depending on your Internet service provider (ISP) (ISP: A business that provides access to the Internet for such things as electronic mail, chat rooms, or use of the World Wide Web. Some ISPs are multinational, offering access in many locations, while others are limited to a specific region.). Some ISPs might not return an error message when they detect outgoing messages as unsolicited commercial e-mail. In such cases, your message might appear to be sent normally — it leaves the Outlook Outbox and appears in Sent Items — but it is never actually delivered to the recipient.Your message was rejected because the SMTP (outgoing) e-mail server did not recognize you as an authorized user.
My interpretation is it is a Security setting/s in either/and your firewall or Intenet Explorer security or SSL settings (perhaps they are not running at default?) Can "1 click" to reset all these
Red face time I clean forgot about how the Installed Outlook Express used your Internet Explorer settings to run as opposed to the external versions (live mail ,hotmail ect) which are reliant on the Webserver setting (and the user security controls are simplified) And in your case your setting level is not within the webservers "Safe to let through" level hence the error messages Basically its what is known as a "Conflict" in Webuser terminology In other words a Real Pain to sort out Don !

I already have the Secure feature in the SMTP file. Thanks anyway. It has not helped any.
