What's the deal with OE? Does it still exist? It isn't listed in my start/programs and doesn't come up in a search. Do I have it? XP and Butterfly, IE 6. I'm not fond of gmail or hotmail. Is it a pretty good program?
Also, is Eudora a good program?

Honestly I'm baffled too I havent deleted it I know I had it and yet Like you I see its gone
Some people are still posting messages about OE on another forum So the server must be flagging unused programs for deletion, and MS hope they'll open a Windows mail account instead (the latest version) which is handled on the MS mailserver not on the users computer

Outlook Express is very definitely still alive and kicking. Also, Catty, you have MS Outlook which is the "older brother" version of Outlook Express on your system. If for some reason it is not currently installed, you can reinstall from the MS Office CD.
Outlook comes packaged with MS Office. It is an email program that contains many additional features and is probably best for business use.
Outlook Express is more "family oriented" and has lots of fun features.
Outlook Express installs with Internet Explorer (most versions) and also the new Windows Internet Explorer (IE 7.0).
If you don't see Outlook Express in your start menu, you can reinstall it from the Control Panel/Add-Remove Programs/Add or Remove Windows Components.

Thank you, Dwight, I did that and got it installed. But I don't know if it's running properly.
I have an email account at gate.com. It is set to forward all mail to my rand account @msn.com. I sent a message to pygmy, but it didn't come back in Outlook Express...?
My computer is running awfully slow. Is it because of all that spyware that apparently came with Napster? If I uninstall Napster, will it go away? Or do I have to run another scan?
Edited to remove visible e-mail address.

Dwight, when I clicked on "Send/Receive" in Outlook, I got this error message:
"The host 'MSN' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'MSN', Server: 'MSN', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11001, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D."
I take it this means I have to be signed in to MSN to receive messages in Outlook. In fact, I was signed in to MSN. ???

I'm not sure about running MSN mail within Outlook. With a premium account such as you have it might work, but I would have to try it to see. I'm not sure of the settings, but I would assume that with a premium account all you would need is the username/password and the HTTP setup function in Outlook/Tools/Email Accouts tool would handle the rest. If MSN woon't install, then I would comclude that Outlook can no longer be used for MSN mail. Dwight

Thanks, Dwight. Office came installed on my computer so I have no CD.
The CD is required to be included with your system, or if not, then the installation files must installed on the harddrive in an accessible protected area. If the CD has been lost, it could be replaced by the maker of your computer. You should contact the maker. Dwight
