My cordless keyboard just died in mid-stroke.

I changed the batteries, but - nothing!

I have Vista Ultimate.

I'm borrowing a PC - Can anyone help? Frown

Check th location of the wireless transmitter. Try unplugging, replugging the transmitter into the computer.

Try the wireless mouse on another computer.

I hope something here will help, but if not please post again.

Does the mouse work on a different computer?

Can you plug in another mouse and use that to uninstall/reinstall the mouse driver?

Dwight, I took another mouse and plugged the transmitter into my PC. The mouse works but the keyboard does not.

I took my mouse and plugged the transmitter into that PC - same result. Mouse works, but not the keyboard.

Mike, I don't know what the channel switch is. Frown

Tree I cannot guide you to the location On my Brothers Keyboard have to Turn it over and its tucked into a recess behind the Foldout leg
Reason for it(being semi-hidden) is to stop wandering fingers brushing it

I flipped the fold out leg (when I inserted the batteries), just to see how it worked!?!?

I'm gonna go back up and see if I can correct it somehow. I'll let you know if it works Mike.

Tree go into Town and buy a New Keyboard
from a small computer Store today get a USB or PS/2 type the cordless board can be put away for another time Price for a decent Standard Keyboard (Microsoft brand ) is about $15
there are some @ $8 But they don't take much to start Playing up Frown
Another good brand is Cherry though when I last looked they were $20 Roll Eyes
I have 2 in reserve and this Keyboard I've used Since October last year is a "Microsoft" USB(albeit a few years old)

Top tip from Me Do Have a Play with the keys before you decide what to buy

Many Big stores Dislike this happening rather shove the Box in a Bag take your cash and Do their "Have a Nice day" as you go out the door not knowing if this keyboard is right for you Roll Eyes

The smaller stores will open the Box up and let you have a try .And they tell you a bit about it.
That's why I said go there for a better deal Smile

Mike, you're right. I'm steering clear of Future Shop, and will go visit the small computer store here in my little town.

I'm still covered under warranty, but it's too painful to experience the inconsistant service at Future Shop.

They stress me out.

So, I went to my "smalltown" PC shop and purchased a new keyboard & mouse. Then I got home and found "trouble shooting" instructions for an unresponsive keyboard/mouse.

It WORKED!

I had to take the new keyboard back today.

Thanks for being here, Dwight and Mike!
