All at once, my IE will not open and allow me on the web. I am using a wireless and it shows that I am connected. I have tried security settings, re-setting my modem and wireless, re-starting and no luck. What else can I do?
I am using Windows 7 on my Acer laptop which I bought for Christmas.

If you are using IE8 click on Tools then look down the menu for the Link Diagnose Connection Programs and see if that works
If Not Open Internet Explorer click on the Connections Tab
and there are 2 things you can try
Ist In the Big Box on this Page is there any thing showing?
If No then thats OK Moving below the box what setting is shown Being Broadband the setting is always "Never Dial a connection"
The Bottom Box Local Area Network has 1 Button LAN Settings
Click this and are any of the tick boxes checked? (Need Further help if the answer is Yes) My set up is No Boxes checked

If you have made any alteration then click the Apply buuton then the OK button to save and Exit

Now try to see if your Home Page appears?
Double check that the Home page setting in Internet explorer has Not been changed?

I'm still feeling my way with Windows 7 not had any hands on Time yet

There May be a different (Minor?) Method of running some of the Above from the Windows 7 Desktop But the basics underneath do not change
As you said you've Reset the Router
I think its worth while Digging out the Setup
settings list, and setting up the router again Won't take Long, Its about Half a dozen Check Boxes and Number inputs
Finally reinputting your Network Password
Preferably in WPA setting which Is more secure than WEP Mode

This is always different to the Default Router Password which is on the Back of the Router
and the Number there which starts with 192.168.x.x type this directly into the browser box then if all is OK type Name and Password into the Next box if it appears
then
The router setup Menu will then appear

I cannot help you from here as you have to enter the settings given to you by your ISP
Resetting to Default Often Leads to a No go situation here Roll Eyes

Don't forget that to initiate change in your router, you have to do it with a computer that is plugged in directly to the router. You cannot affect changes wirelessly. If this does NOT work, try rolling back to an earlier day when the wireless WAS working. I have a quad running XP Pro SP3 that was not connecting both wired as well as wirelessly. Rolled it back to last week, rebooted & it worked.
Good Luck.

I took your advice...Rolled it back 10 days and it worked. Don't know why I didn't think of that before. Thanks a million.

You're welcome... took me almost a week to remember that I had the option of rolling back the date to an earlier time...
