Does anyone know what the file 00000 is? At start up it brings up a box that says can't find file path 00000, something about it not being in the registry. How do I find out what this file is and how to get it back? Thanks *************************************************************** 10-16-05, 07:02 PM Dwight Is there a file extension showing? If not, right click on your "My Computer" icon and choose "Explore". With that open, click on the "Tools" menu / Folder Options command.
With that open, click on the "View" tab.
Scroll down to the option "Hide file extensions of know file types" and uncheck it.
OK your selection and then locate the file "00000" using the "search" or "Find" depending on your operating system. When the file is found, please post the file extension (the entire filename, including the characters following the period mark). If the file extension is "chk" (for instance 0000.chk) it has been automatically saved by ScanDisk. In most cases the file is not necessary and can be safely deleted. See the last 2 paragraphs for an explanation.
Dwight *************************************************************** 10-17-05, 06:29 AM becca Hi Dwight, I did the first part, then searched for the file name. It had tons of files with 00000 in it, it wouldn't let me copy and paste any to put on here for you to look at though. It didn't show any file alone with the 00000, it had stuff with it. So I will now restart my computer right now and see if unchecking the one box made a difference. Thanks. *************************************************************** 10-17-05, 06:36 AM becca Well that didn't work with just unchecking the box you said. I'm sure the file name has to be deleted too. It actually looks more like 5 squares (the file name) that's all it says too, there aren't any extensions with it. I'm stumped Big Grin *************************************************************** 10-17-05, 03:05 PM Dwight Is this the symbol that you're seeing? I don't know exactly what this means. I have seen these before but I confess that I don't know the meaning of the symbol. I have seen these in the MSCONFIG (Microsoft Configuration Utility) in the startup section and have not been able to identify where it comes from. The entry looks like this:
I did some Google searching trying to find an answer to this but I only found one forum with a similar question to yours. So far, there haven't been any answers, but if you like you can check back and see if anyone tried to respond to this question: Click Here Perhaps someone else here can answer this.
Dwight *************************************************************** 10-17-05, 06:11 PM becca Come to think of it that's when I got the error message when I went to msconfig to deselect some things from starting at start up. So I went back to that and clicked on normal startup but still get the boxes. How did you type those in like that Dwight? Maybe I could do a file search on that but I don't know how to type the squares. Thank You. *************************************************************** 10-17-05, 06:51 PM Dwight Unfortunately, you can't type these symbols into the search box. I copy/pasted the symbols from Microsoft Word/Insert Menu/Symbol... command
I don't know what these symbols are called and I think if we could find the correct term for the symbol, we would have better luck searching for the reason these appear.
I spoke to a man I know here in Anchorage (at Computer Renaissance) who knows a lot about computers. I showed him your post and asked him what they were. He said he wasn't positive, but thought they were just indicating that the file in question was corrupted (damaged). He thought it would do no harm to delete the entry.
Sorry I can't give you a good answer to this. I want to continue looking and hopefully will find a better answer. Or perhaps someone else will see this thread and know the answer.
We may get a clue about this if you will uncheck the MSCONFIG entry for the file again and then report what the error message says.
Dwight *************************************************************** 10-18-05, 06:03 AM becca Here's what it says. Windows cannot find "00000' (squares) Make sure you typed the name correctly and then try again. To search for a file, click start button and then click search.
So I click ok and this box comes up Desktop could not load or run "0000E'Specified in the registry. Make sure the file exists on your computer or remove the reference to it in the registry. (Note the E at the end of the 4 squares)
In MISCONFIG the file names come up as this. Four files are checked with this HKCU/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/Current
Two of the files are the 00000's and two files are the 0000E.
Thanks for all you searching on this Dwight. Hope something comes up. *************************************************************** 10-18-05, 10:30 AM Dwight OK, I still don't know the name of the file, or the reason for the abnormal filename. But I think I know how to stop the error message. First, create a backup of your Registry by going into MSCONFIG and clicking the "Create Backup" button: Picture of MSCONFIG
MSCONFIG 1. Start/Run 2. Type in: MSCONFIG 3. Click OK 4. Click the "Create Backup" button
Modify your Windows Registry, run Regedit
1. Click Start/Run
2. Type in: regedit (Click OK)
In the Windows Registry, in the left pane view:
3. Scroll down (by expanding folders) to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
4. In the right pane view, look for the: : HKCU/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/Current entry. If you see it, select it (with a single click).
5. Right click on it and select: Modify
6. Press the "Home" key on the keyboard
7. Type in: REM (in caps with one space after) so that it looks like this:
REM : HKCU/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/Current
8. Once complete, close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
If you don't find the : HKCU/Software/Microsoft/WindowsNT/Current in the Run folder, look for it in the RunServices folder. If you see it there, add the REM comment as shown above.

I am running windows XP if that makes a difference. *************************************************************** 10-21-05, 08:13 AM Dwight For WinXP you can backup your registry by opening the Registry Editor and then clicking on File/Export. Export the file to a save location and give it a filename with the .reg extension.
If you have any problems, you can just double click on your saved .reg file and it will reinstall itself. This same registry backup method will work for all versions of Windows.
Image of this procedure. Be sure the highlight is on "Computer" and I suggest you store the saved file in a folder named "Registry". When you're finished editing the Registry and are sure that you wish to keep the changes you've made, I suggest you delete the backup file so that it does not accidently get reinstalled.

Hi Dwight, I did all you said step by step and am not finding anything with the squares Confused *************************************************************** 10-23-05, 09:01 AM Dwight Perhaps I can help you find the affected program. If you will click: 1. Start 2. Run 3. Type in: msinfo32 4. Click OK 5. Expand the Software Environment folder, then select "Services" in the left pane. 6. Click the Edit menu/Select All command 7. Click the Edit menu/Copy command
You can either copy/paste the list in an Reply box here, or if you would rather, you can email it to me. If you do email them to me, please send the message as a plain text format. My address is in my profile.
Please do the same procedure with the "Startup Programs" list and with the "Windows Error Reporting" list. Please edit the "Windows Error Reporting" list to just the last day or so (delete any that aren't current).

First, the error messages are referring to Incredimail and the Microsoft provided Dynamic Link Library (.DLL) file MSHTML.DLL. Are you using Incredimail? If not, I suggest you uninstall the program. If you are, I suggest you uninstall, then reinstall it to see if the problem is resolved.
Once you have completed this, please repeat the "Windows Error Reporting" list and post it here. In the meantime, I'm going to remove the error reporting list you posted, because it lists your Netgear card MAC address. Once you post the new "Windows Error Reporting" list, if the MAC address is still listed, I will remove that also. Webopedia - MAC Address
Dwight *************************************************************** 10-24-05, 05:12 PM becca Thanks Dwight, I am using incredimail, I will need to find the registration number for buying the version I have, I have it filed somewhere Confused Or I can write them and have them email me the registration number so I have it to reinstall. I will keep you posted on this, you are awesome to be such a help. Thank you.
Edit added, I hope I didn't post anything on here that someone might use. Eek *************************************************************** 10-24-05, 06:16 PM becca I still get the error message, I emailed the Windows error report to you though instead of posting it. I uninstalled incredimail, I still got the error message at start up, then I reinstalled it and still got the error message. I have had incredimail for quite some time so I don't know why the error message would be popping up just recently. *************************************************************** 10-24-05, 06:43 PM becca The email I sent you under your profile email, came back to me. Is that the correct email that's under your public profile? *************************************************************** 10-24-05, 07:36 PM Dwight I did get your email. The error message is still occurring because the command to run incmail.exe is still there. My guess is that it didn't uninstall correctly, probably because of the corrupted system file(s).
You can use the Regedit instructions from my previous post to go remove the startup command for the incredimail program file (incredimail.exe) or (incmail.exe). You can select and delete the command since you plan to reinstall it later because the new installation will replace the registry entry.
Alternatively, you could go to MSCONFIG and uncheck the command to startup Incredimail there. That should eliminate the error message, too.
Note: "I hope I didn't post anything on here that someone might use." becca
The MAC Address being posted is not a serious problem...I guess I'm just overly cautious. Dwight *************************************************************** 10-25-05, 05:49 AM becca File name I tried the regedit, and deleted incredimail from the registry, then I reinstalled incredimail and still got the error message so I went to msconfig and unchecked it from starting up at start up andit worked Thanks again Dwight for helping me with this annoying problem Big Grin Oh yea, I even went into incredimaila and used the repair option, with no luck.
