I was gonna do a defrag - in 'safe mode' DOS. Clicked F8 as always, selected # 3 & clicked 'enter' and it shut off. The only warning of instructions I can see is: Windows did not fully load on last attempt. I also go to the start/shut down/restart in dos mode. I get to the same place and 'click' - it shuts down [ I have since defragged the old fashion way - by r-clking icons in the sys. tray and shutting them down.] Went to Google and searched a while - nothing. I played with the thing tonight - went thru about 8-10 shutdowns. Can someone toss me a 'bone' of information ?

As this appears to be a power management problem, installing the Windows 98SE Shutdown Supplement may resolve it.
