I'm not getting any text marks - bold, underline, etc. Where are they?

Dwight, I did have one question, but I will put it here, since you are online. I'm having a problem with page sizes. Some sites, not all, are too big for my screen. I just set my "text size" to Smaller, don't know if that will help. What could be causing this?

Catty, what is your screen resolution set on? Some sites that don't fit in a browswer window will appear if your screen resolution is higher than 800x600 pixels.

Now what are you referring to when you mentioned not seeing your text marks? Is this is an application?

Oh, Georgia, I can't remember how to check it. MSN help is, as usual, no help at all. Apparently they never heard of "resolution." Catty is getting old and has a terrible memory. Sorry.

Well it depends on what OS you have. For Windows XP go to your control panel. On the Settings tab go to Screen Resolution and slide to a higher resolution. Then click apply and wait a few seconds. If you don't like the way it looks you can not approve the change and it won't save it.

For Windows 2000 right click on the desktop and select Properties. In the Display Properties dialog box, select the Settings tab.
In the Settings tab, slide the control to the right to increase the resolution. 1024x768 is recommended.

Now when you are saying you are not getting any text marks on this site do you mean when you try to post a reply there are no options at the top of the reply box with the emoticons,colors, html code for inserting a url and making things bold, italized, quotes, etc? That is prob a site issue - I believe I recall reading in another post that the emoticon button was appearing. In the meantime, can you use the html tags to get the features to work?
{b}bold{/b}
{i}italicizes{/i}
{QUOTE}insert text{/QUOTE}

those are some of the popular tags only replace the {} with [ ]

Yes, Georgia dear, that is what I meant. I can use html but shouldn't have to. It seems this site is fraught with problems. I know it's a big site, but...

I'm sorry, I don't know what is meant by "settings tab."

Do I have to adjust the resolution for every webpage that doesn't fit?

Thank you for the help.

Catty, what is your screen resolution? If it is less than the above mentioned one then you need to increase it. You do it one time for your computer and then all your websites should open normal in your browswer windows. And by Setting Tab I was referring to the name of the tab you should see when you view properties in Windows 2000. I have Vista so I am having to go by memory but I was pretty sure that was the name of the tab.

The display box should look like this

Actually you might be able to get to this by right clicking on the desktop and selecting properties. I have never had windows xp so I am not sure.

OK Georgia, I found it. The resolution appears to be right now. I did notice that when you set your resolution arrow (in the screen shot above), it is much further over to the right than mine is when set to the same resolution. Don't know if that's important, but in any case, it's all right now.

Thank you so much, Georgia, dear.

Different operating systems have different sets of resolutions. I found that picture on a web page, supposedly it was for Windows XP so that is why I pasted that pic. So what was your resolution set to? And did increasing it help with those pesky web pages?
