I recently moved from somewhere that had high speed isp, but now I need my dial up utility. It is missing. What do I do? Can I get it back for windows XP? It only shows where I had a high speed connection, but no other choices. Please help me.

No Dwight, that does not work. I get a 600 (not the exact #) error message. Apparently when I had broadband, the dial up utility was deleted. How can I get another one? grrr Thanks again.

It sounds like your dial-up modem software is bad (damaged) or that the modem hardware is not working.
Edit: After writing the stuff below, it occurred to me that the problem may be simpler. With the dial-up modem in a desktop computer, there are usually two telephone line connections on the back of the computer. One line is for the inlet line, the other for an outlet to a telephone or to a fax machine. If you got the inlet line plugged into the outlet connection, the modem will not have a line to call into your Internet Service Provider. If you haven't already, try switching the line to the other telephone line connection. If that doesn't help, please insure that the phone line you're using is a good line. Try plugging it into a telephone to see if you can hear a dial tone. If not, the problem may be that you line is digital when the modem requires an analog line. You can contact your telephone company or ISP for assistance with this. If none of this applies, you can go onto the stuff below. End Edit
I assume this is a Windows XP computer. If so, you can uninstall, then reinstall the modem software to see if that resolves the issue.
1. Right click "My Computer". 2. Choose "Properties" 3. Click Hardware tab. 4. Click the device manager button. 5. Click the + sign to left of the modem entry. Note: You can right click on your modem and click the properties. See if shows an error.
6. You can uninstall the software by choosing the uninstall option in the modem right click menu.
Restart your computer and the modem software will be automatically reinstalled at startup. (If nothing at all happens at restart, the modem hardware is most likely damaged, or the modem card has become loose and needs to be reinserted).
Note, if your system is not Windows XP, you may have to locate and download the software manually, so before uninstalling it, let us know and we can provide some assistance with that procedure.
Once your Windows XP has restarted, go through the setup procedure as described in my post above.
