During a lightning storm my computer went into safe mode. I tried to rebout it and it stays in safe mode. Can you tell me how to get my computer to restart?
I'm asking for help on this from another Forum I thought the BIOS chip could have been wiped? but if you getting as far as here the BIOS chip is "working" alternatively the BIOS driver has been corrupted needs an Update to make the Computer Start up properly? The BIOS controls the startup routine and basic things like keeping Time http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BIOS
Come to think of it, is the date and time showing the right numbers? Or have you had to keep setting them when you go online?

If the computer will start in Safe Mode, I suggest that you right-click on the My Computer icon and choose "Explore". Then right-click on the C drive and choose "properties".
Then click the "Tools" menu and choose "Error Checking".
The computer will need to restart to complete the scan. It is possible that your system suffered a "head crash" which has damaged the hard drive disk. If so, this procedure might be able to write a "bridge" around the bad sector and thus make the drive usable again. It is possible the Windows Operating system will have to be reinstalled, but hopefully if it runs in Safe Mode, it will have enough information available to restore missing or damaged system files from the i386 system store folder.

I guess I did not quite explain myself properly or enough. Let me styart over after the storm the screen went black, I turned off the computer and restarted it all I have time to see on the screen is "safe Mode" and then it goes back to black. So therefore I cannot right click on any icons. Do you think I should take it in for repairs?
Yes, at this point I think that will be the best bet. Is your system still under warranty? If so, call the company and see if they have any suggestions.
If it is not still under warranty, then a local computer repair shop may be your best bet. I've had good luck with Computer Renaissance here in Anchorage. You can check this site and see if there is a local one near you: Store Locater

Yes the system was still under warranty and the store that I bought it from took it in and reset everything and they did not charge me anything. As far as what was wrong they just said the system went into a protection mode. All is well and thank you for you input and all of your help.
