I have had this file appearing on my desktop 3 times now

It Is 167kb and called ~

on opening I get the message unknown file type

I have gone to Microsoft Windows File Associations but that cant find anything and choose a program Is no help.

anyone know ??

It's a copy of your address book. You can verify this by adding the file extension .WAB, then double-clicking the file to open it.

1 why does this occur on the desktop

2 can It be safely deleted from D/top

On some systems, a bug in Outlook Express (6 only, I believe) causes the copy to appear. it's only a copy, so it's safe to delete.
