I just downloaded a few days ago this version and now everyonce in a while when the computer goes on standby and I go back on it it says it is not connected yet it is. I have a pc and a wireless laptop. I then have to turn off the laptop and when I restart it all works fine. Could it be because I have version 6 on my pc and version 7 on my laptop that this causes me problems. Also can I go back somewhere and download version 6 instead of keeping version 7? I seem to be having problems since I downloaded this version. Also I find it has slowed down my laptop immensly. Thank you for your help.
The reason its going offline is because when you updated the connection setting has gone back to Dial-up
To restore the DSL (Broadband) connection settings Look to the far right of the IE page And you see the Tools button Click on this to get a Menu At the Foot of the Menu is Internet Options Click this and the IE control Panel comes up Look along the tabs 4th from left called Connections ,Click this
Now look to the bottom of the window for 3 settings If it has gone back to dial-up it will be on the setting Always dial my Default connection
Click the Never dial a connection setting then check in to top box it is Highlighting a setting other than a dialler (just click the words to change) then Press the apply and Ok buttons (on the Window )to save the settings and exit the Window
As regard the slowness issue what Dodge and I said in the Other Topic will restore a lot of speed back Run Crapcleaner from www.ccleaner.com and a Defrag before running this. Takes about an Hour for the Defrag ( and 5 mins for Crapcleaner to do its magic)
Repeat every 2 months

thank you bedstor I did the first part. now with ccleaner do I analize first and then run cleaner and do I have to keep the yahoo toolbar? I already have the ie 7 toolbar and the google on my screen . I hope I can use ccleaner without it. Thank you again
You are correct it is Analyze first then "Run Cleaner" But It won't wipe the tool bars out (does delete in advanced controls)
Precautions first before cleaning! note the tick list to the left of the window Untick these items Cookies and History in the first section
All items in the 2nd list bar Search Assistent AutoComplete
Nothing in the System section
And In the last section User assist History
More on CCleaner Run the Issues Tool(Registry Cleaner) very safe deletes Items doing nothing after uninstalls
In The Tools Section (Startup button)you can stop things Starting up when you boot up the Computer ( have a peek in the other topic to see what can go) is a Place where too much running here will slow things down This is what I said
quote:
If you click the tools Icon you can get to the Windows Startup list and edit it Your target is to get as few Icons as possible showing next to the Clock Leave the Antivirus and the Network Icons...All you do to get the Item is look on the Start Menu In future(you lose nothing)
It dosen't do much in reality but it restores a tiny bit of speed back ..... Note Messengers such as ICQ do gobble a lot of the speed up,Windows Messenger can be a right Pain if active all the time (Interrupting your surfing) Can be isolated altogether via an Ad-Aware Add-on or a Firewall "block"
I would guess that the reason you're seeing the off-line dialog box is because your wireless connection was lost at some point. The dialog box came up to alert you. Then your wireless connection was re-established. The original dialog box will remain visible until it is OK'd, even though the message it is delivering is no longer valid.
I'm assuming that you're using either cable or DSL for your connection. Is that correct?
If your connection has not been reestablished, you can right-click on the wireless connection icon down by the clock display (lower right side of the screen) and choose "Refresh".
For what it is worth, in my opinion it is not necessary to run the registry cleaner, unless there is some specific problem. If there is some specific problem, if we know what the exact error message is, we can direct you to the registry elements that need to be edited.

Dwight you were right I did not do anything except a defragment and all of the sudden all is working properly. Maybe it had something to do with my server and of course they never let you know that there is something wrong. I was taught to be very patient with computers and that I am. I am thankful for this board because without it I would be entirely lost. All of you my most sincere thanks.
