All of a sudden, its gone. Why would my volume control button disappear from my system tray. I installed adobe flash player activex 9 and thought that did it. So I tried to remove that. It still is gone. Win Me, I know....get rid of it. But hey, it's still working.

Go into your Start Button / control Panel / Sounds & Audio Devices (this assumes the Control Panel is set to Classic mode). Open the Sounds & Audio, then put a check in the box whre it says "Place volume iocn in the Taskbar".

If is is already checked, uncheck it, close and OK the Sounds and Audio Devices Property Window, then reopen it and recheck the volume control icon. I hope this helps.

That did the trick, thanks Dwight. I really appreciate the trouble. I just wonder why it disappeared, strange, huh?

By the way, you can get into the Audio Device Property window by right clicking on the taskbar icon and choosing "Adjust Audio Properties".

I don't know how the icon was removed from the taskbar initially. I have seen this happen several times and I have no idea why it changed. Computer magic I guess.
