I have a problem that's probably unheard off, but I'll try to explain as best as I can. My whole layout on answerpool has changed, with a total different look of fonts and background color. When I make a reply, all my boxes in the reply pane are covered with what appears to be the background wallpaper of my desktop theme. If I put my pointer where the boxes should be, and click, they will appear only for me to use them, and they are covered again. Something seems to be scrambled, on top of each other, etc. Very weird. Answerpool is the only site that's like this. DP and HP are fine.

If anyone know any reason why this would happen with answerpool, I'd appreciate the info, but you'd probably have to see it to believe it.

I deleted my cookies and that didn't fix the problem. I changed my desktop theme to see if that was the problem, but the wallpaper still seem to be in the background. Now I think I need a sedative.

I'm using Windows 98, IE6.

Have you updated your video card drivers lately? Thats about all I can think of that might cause this, unless the drivers have become corrupted in some way, and are reacting to something in the code on this site. Maybe you need to try updating those vid drivers, and see if it helps any? Good luck!

Also delete the Temp files and History file entries with Answerpool pages on them These carry the basic information to "build up" the page you are viewing.and 1 corrupt page may have a "Knock-on" effect on any newer pages? Roll Eyes subsequently half the site pages could be messed up in no time Frown

Bedstor, you mean delete all temp files, right?

Until I get this straight, I'll probably be off AP for a while. This look of things being on top of things, and being in the wrong place, is getting on my nerves. Seriously.

Find this information for us and you can download the latest driver for your machine Smile
Will take you 2 mins work,and your computer does a reset and you are back online
Longest part of the job is finding
Follow this route.Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools>System Information
next..select Tools from the Top of the Window
Got that?
Now on the menu Select ]DirectX Diagnostic Tool[/b]
Window opens with lot of tabs (nearly there Smile)
Select the Display tab and copy the number to paper of the Main driver in the Drivers box
also the name and number of the graphic card
Idea Run Belarc advisor (instructions are at top of Beginners issues)
This will tell you the name and model number(not the driver )
looks like this (this is mine)
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 [Display adapter]
copy and paste that info into the post.
Should be sufficient info to find you a driver Smile

Run the Disk clearup . Paste this word in the Start>Run box cleanmgr and tick the Temp files box press OK this will take a minute or 2
And all your Temp files are deleted Smile

Thank you so much, I just fixed it. I deleted all my cookies, all temporary files, and history, rebooted and it was fixed. Big Grin grinning from ear to ear Big Grin


Thank God it's fixed, but I'm puzzled as to how this can happen. Any ideas?

somewhere in the chain between the server and your computer 1 of the Packets of data goes astray yet you computer gets the thumbs up message that all the data has been recieved
and It is displayed without that packet Roll Eyes (if it is the first time it is stored in the history file as a backup,In other words it becomes the master template.
and all the subsequent requests for that page/s use that 1st to build up the picture or file ,and what is there is unchanged So the computer assumes that this is gospel? Eek.Hence your continued distorted page views Mad
