I have a friend who has an emachine with windows xp. she does not have microsoft office therefore if she receives Word documents sh cannot open them. She then sends them to me so I can print them and then give the printed matter to her. Is there a freeware of some sort that she could download and be able to receive Word documents and open them from her own computer. Thanks again

Yes, Microsoft makes what are known as "Readers". These are free downloaded programs that are used to read files created by Office products. Readers are available for Word, Power Point, Excel, and other programs.

Remember, it is a viewer that you want, not a converter.

Also, she would want the latest version of the product available because older versions can be read in newer readers, but not the other way-around. So download the 2003 Word Reader, not the Word 97 reader.
