This link is to the Call Wave Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) page. It will explain the features of "Call Notification" and how to adjust the settings of this feature. Click HereBy the way, have you heard about "Catch-A-Call"? It is a hardware device that you connect to your telephone outlet. When an incoming call arrives, it "pauses" your Internet connection (for about 30 seconds) which allows you to answer the phone. If your call lasts longer than about 30 seconds, it will disconnect your computer's modem. When your call ends, you can reconnect to modem and continue to "surf the net". This uses the "Call Waiting" service from your phone company. Details HereI hope this helps! Dwight

Wow, that looks like a great service Dwight.. I have cable modem now and we DID have 2 phone lines.. but for people who have no options (or choose a single line for both) it is a great idea.

I assume that you're using a laptop computer and you're experiencing this in different locations. Since Call Wave uses the "Busy, Call Forward" service, that has to be setup at both locations you're attempting to use the Call Wave from. Busy, Call ForwardI would think it would be easier to just take the Catch-A-Call with you, or buy a second Catch-A-Call to place in your second location. If you do decide to just use Catch-A-Call, you can uninstall the Call Wave. To uninstall Call Wave, click Start/Control Panel (or Start/Settings/Control Panel) and open the Add-Remove Programs utility. Scroll to and select Call Wave, then click the Add-Remove button. Click OK to remove it. If you're paying for your Call Wave, contact them to cancel the service and stop your billing. I hope this helps! Dwight

Thanks, Dwight, but I have never had Callwave on this computer. I am familiar with it, because I had it on my main computer a long time ago. This computer just does it on its own. I have never known a computer to do that. As I said, in the upper lefthand side of computer, a popup appears that says I am ignoring an incoming call. The computer is a Winbook notebook that I bought from Sam's. When I first saw this, I thought that new computers had something built in for answering an incoming call, but, if so, I can't figure it out.

Dixie, I'm so sorry, I misread your initial posting. I misread "callwaiting" for CallWave and automatically assumed that was what your question was about. This is a link to the Winbook manual presented in .pdf (Portable Document Format). If you look on page 44, it tells you to disable the call waiting if your modem is a fax/modem, but only because the call waiting service might interrupt a fax operation. It also says, on page 16: "The Modem Port is an internal 56K voice/fax/data modem. You will connect your computer to your phone line through this port. This jack does not provide a pass-through option for connecting a phone to the same line. You can obtain adapters that will allow you to connect a phone to the same line as your WinBook notebook." If you do have a service that notifies you of an incoming call, I would guess that you need the adapter mentioned above to answer the call. Can you open the Control Panel and get the information on the make/model of the modem? Perhaps that will give us some information about it's capability. I hope this is of some help, and again, I'm sorry for my misreading of your question. Perhaps someone here with a Winbook notebook can provide some better information about this. Dwight P.S. If you can't open the .pdf document page above, you can download the free Adobe Reader program from http://www.adobe.com
