I remember my brother in law talking about the Navy ceasing to use Morse code. (I am not sure; I will ask him next week when I see him)

He is a Chief Cryptology Technician currently teaching his skills in the Norfolk Virginia area.

(Formally served several tours on the USS Wasp)

I could only find this information. (Not much)

Now I am curious if anyone can find any more links.

Actually, morse code is not used much any more but is still in use for certain situations. Visual signals such as flashing lights or pinafore use the morse code and is taught to pilots for survival situations to signal rescuers. Morse code is also used as a designation signal for Navigational aids to flight to identify the proper station (VOR's, NDB, ILS, etc). Pilots tune in the frequency of the NAVAID and verify that it is the correct one by the morse code signal. You can see this information on IFR charts (ELE's etc.)
