While we are waiting for one more knowledgable than I to respond, I will give what I feel is an answer.
Strategy is the larger picture, the "long run" that we so often speak of, while tactics are more specific and immediate. Both are plans, but one takes in more factors. Tactics would not involve thinking of the economics of 20 years in the future, strategy would. Strategy would pay attention to later repercussions of tactics.
I see strategy as more of a mental thing, while tactics seems to be more physical. I don't know if that explains what I mean any better or not.

Great job on the weight loss! Keep it up!

Strategy is the choice of which job to do. Tactics is the method whereby the job gets done.

Strategic nuclear weapons are designed to win a war (or prevent a war) by obliterating (or threatening to obliterate) an entire country. Tactical nuclear weapons (such as the ones the US is developing in defiance of non-proliferation treaties right now) are designed to win battles, or do specific jobs like destroying bunkers.

Strategy is 'the big picture' - the war. Tactics involve managing the battles.

If there is a 'war on terrorism', then the battle in Iraq has been a strategic failure.

IMO, Alan describes it succinctly.

Levels of planning:

1--Vision
2--Mission
3--Strategic planning
4--Tactical planning
5--Operational planning
6--Task planning

Military operations are always conducted in numerous theaters simultaneously with joint forces, even when it's just an exercise.

So this is really an oversimplification.

By the way, weight loss is very hard on the budget.

Just think of all the new clothes and shoes you'll have to buy!
