I wish to take this opportunity to thank Frankvan for his efforts during WWII.

It is because of brave men like him that we are all free to come here and disagree with each other, and, more importantly, disagree with our government, if we wish.

So, hats off to you, Frank. We rarely agree on politics, but I admire your wisdom and convictions. You are a great asset to the Answer Pool community.

Thank you, Yankee! What a great idea to show tribute to Frank. You're so right, guys like Frank made sure that we have the freedom that we enjoy today. And Frank is still challenging all of us to continue to preserve that freedom by seeking truth in our everyday lives. Hats off BIG TIME to you, Frank Van!!!

Great idea. Thank you Frank for your service to our country!!! Thank you for serving and putting your life on the line.

While we regularly have a difference of opinion on many things, I also realized that when you served part of it was so we all can agree to disagree.

Even though I have never been in the military, I have a profound respect for those men and women who have faced death (or succombed to it) while defending this Country.

Frankvan, I salute you for your fortitude and courageous spirit.

While I appreciate your sentiments, I would like to make it clear; I did not single-handedly defeat the Nazi regime.I had help! Smile Wink

My dad was a WWII vet, as were two of his brothers. A third brother was 4-F due to the fact he had a kidney removed as a child. WWII vets have a special place in my heart.

I just think we take for granted what the generation of men and women who grew up in the depression and fought WWII endured. I wanted to take an opportunity to thank you at random, instead of just on Veteran's day or Memorial day.

The point you make about not doing it single handed is actually an excellent point. It took an entire country united against evil in Europe, Japan, and Africa to get the job done.

Future generations should not ever forget or be ignorant of the facts.

I want to thank you too, Frankvan. I also want to thank you for making such excellent posts. I am so enthused to be on the same team with you on all issues.

Yankees, this is such a nice topic, that's very well deserved. We should always remember the brave men/women that served our country. Thanks to your Dad, and uncles, as well.

I'm 19, in college, and love learning history. One of my most memorable projects I did for a class my last year of high school was focused on the concentration camps. I never want to see pictures like that again... I about threw up several times. As I was born with one hand, I would have been killed at birth.

(I've also heard stories from my Opa about being in Berlin during that time... it wasn't pretty.)

Thanks, Frankvan. Way to go, man.
