My question is about the laser. Do they "wear out"? Do they become weaker? What is the recommendation for calibration to be sure they are using the correct measurements to cut through the eye tissue?

not sure about the measurements, but from my understanding, they use a frequency tripled (i think) NdYAG laser. I wouldn't expect this to wear out, but it would need someone who knows what they're doing to maintain it.
