I have to write about the life of a classical composer of my choice. Can you suggest someone who had an interesting life?

Beethoven was engaged in a long battle with his brother's widow over the custody of her child.

Mozart was a child prodigy. There is a story that Mozart was killed by a jealous musician, although the official cause of death was fever.

Wagner was a nationalist, and revived the legends of the Norse heroes so much admired by Neitzsche. The Nazis adopted these legends to, and revered Wagner.

Liszt lived for 74 years. As a child he played for Beethoven. Was friends with Chopin, Schumann, Mendelssohn and many other great figures in the world of Art. He was regarded universally as the greatest pianist who ever lived, and his compositions place him at the very forefront of 19th century musicians. He was a ceaseless traveller who visited many countries, and the most sought-after piano teacher of the century. He was extremely good-looking and his love affairs were the scandal of every 'polite' society. Composers as diverse as Grieg and Wagner owed him an incalculable debt, as he toiled ceaselessly to spread their music through his personal efforts.
He is probably the greatest sight reader who ever lived, reading and playing from manuscript Grieg's own piano concerto, including the whole of the orchestral part at the same time, to the total disbelief of Grieg, who watched and heard it in absolute awe.
Read his section in Harold Schonberg's brilliant book, 'The Great Pianists', under the heading 'Thunder, Lightning, Mesmerism, Sex', which is on p161 of my copy. It is eminently readable, and will inspire you to learn more about this astonishing figure! Good luck, Ritz. Wink
