I must complete this assignment for an English class:
The readings that we have completed for this unit have addressed both internal and external conflict. Your extension project for this unit is the following: You must find a legend (modern day or historical) that involves internal or external conflict and has been put to a song or poem. 1. Provide a brief 1-2 minute oral description of the historical background of the legend or myth (date, location, individuals, conflict involved etc). 2. Play the song for the class (or read the poem). 3. Follow with a brief personal response. Does anyone have any good suggestions of songs? Thanks! |

You'll have to do the research, but here's a few that come to mind:
The Legend of Bonnie and Clyde Queen Eleanor's Confession The Night Chicago Died The Ballad of Ira Hayes (this would be MY choice) Mr(song, sung blue)Sensitive |

U2's Sunday Bloody Sunday,is certainly a song about conflict, although it is not a legend or myth but a very real incident that happened in Derry, Northern Ireland on Sunday January 30, 1972.

I think I'm going to use MrSensitive's suggestion of "The Battle of Ira Hayes."
Our teacher used the example of "Sunday, Bloody Sunday" and told us that no one could copy that example. Thanks everyone! |
